The E Series is the cheapest way to get hold of a real ThinkPad. The keyboard, the layout and the reliability stay; the price comes down through simpler materials and a smaller choice of configurations.

Who it is for

For freelancers and small companies buying one or two machines who do not need the management features of a large IT estate. Also a sensible choice for a second laptop or a home workplace.

The alternative

Compare it with a refurbished T Series in the same price bracket. For the same money you often get a higher class of machine there, with a few more years of use behind it. Which of the two works out better depends on how much you care about a fresh battery and the length of the warranty.
